How to use this site
Welcome to The Gresford Osteopathic Clinic web site. The purpose of this
site is not only to tell you a little bit about ourselves and the facilities
that we provide, but also to provide information that may be of use to
you regarding your health.
If it is just information that you require, select the topic you want
from the menu on your left. This list will be constantly revised and updated,
as we will be covering different topics ranging from osteoporosis to improving
the health of the elderly. So add us to your list of favourites and keep
popping back to see if any new topics are of interest to you.

What do we do?
It has been said that once we have our most basic necessities, food and shelter,
that everything else we do is centred around two other activities, namely
pain and pleasure. Avoiding the first and searching for the second.
We like to think that we fit into the first category, AVOIDING PAIN.
We are an osteopathic clinic that helps people suffering from pain in their
joints or muscles anywhere on the body. People suffering from back pain, neck
pain, shoulder pain, knee pain, elbow pain, hip pain etc. come to us for help
with pain relief and also for advice on managing the problem. Our aim as therapists
is not only to deal with the painful area, but also to find the underlying cause
and help rectify that as well.
How do we do it?
Osteopaths are manual therapists, in other words they help people by hands
on techniques that have existed for centuries. This may involve the stretching
of different tissues, such as muscle and ligaments, or specialised manipulations
to help relieve painful symptoms. Naturally advice and exercises can be a big
part of the treatment process. If you want to find out more please click on
Osteopathy in Information Menu on the left.
Do I need to be referred by a Doctor?
Although doctors refer some of our patients, the majority of our patients are
Where are we?
We are situated in Gresford, just off the A483 carriageway, on the old
Chester Road directly opposite the Texaco garage. Consequently we are
easily reached from Wrexham, Mold and Chester and their surrounding areas.
We are also approximately 30 minutes away from Whitchurch, Wem and Ellesmere.
For those of you with Sat-Nav, our postcode is LL12 8TN.
Off road parking is available, or for a small charge approx £1.00 you
can park in the local pub, called The Plough, car park which is 150meters away.
What else do we do?
We are very fortunate to have on site a McCue bone sonometer. This is an expensive
piece of equipment costing nearly £8000.00 that measures the strength
of bones using ultrasound at the heel. Used extensively throughout both the
NHS and private hospitals, it is used as a primary tool for helping to diagnose
osteoporosis, and in our opinion should be in every GP's surgery, especially
when you consider that 1 in 3 women and 1 in 12 men will suffer. For more information
on this disease, and the test click here.
At the centre we are delighted to have our own rehabilitation specialist
trained by Paul Chek. Mr Chek is renowned in his native America for his
approach to this particular problem and is a recognised authority in both
America and the United Kingdom.
